Conference USA Championship Game- Louisiana Tech vs. Marshall

Conference USA Champion-Marshall

A new football season is upon us in Conference USA and of course there are some teams that have a better chance than others as far as winning the conference crown.

Last year the Marshall Thundering Herd had the 12th ranked offense in the nation and you can expect more of the same this year. For Marshall head football coach Doc Holliday, he knows that junior quarterback Rakeem Cato will be back under center for him in Huntington this season. Cato is only 6’1″, 188 lbs., but he can pass the football with the best of them and he’ll be in the running to be the Conference USA Player of the Year.

Charlie Patridge is taking over as the new head football coach of the Florida Atlantic Owls and he is hopeful that his squad will give Marshall all that they can handle in the Eastern Division of Conference USA. And if the Owls are able to hang with the Thundering Herd it will be on the legs of junior running back Jaquez Johnson.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had a rough go of it last season. After 13 years in the now defunct Western Athletic Conference, the Bulldogs joined Conference USA and for their troubles in 2013, they were only 4-8. But Louisiana Tech head football coach Skip Holtz will rely on junior running back Kenneth Dixon to help lead what he hopes will be a Bulldogs resurgence that could lead to the Conference USA Championship.
