The Mets have been played hard for Terry Collins, now it is just a matter of hitting with men in scoring position.

For the Mets, on a scale of 1 for crushing disappointment and 10 for giddy surprise, I’d rate them a 5 or a 5.5.

They’re flirting with .500 (and their Pythagorean w-l has them at 20-20), and if you would’ve told me that’s where they’d be without Chris Young, and Dickey and Pelfrey pitching as poorly as they have, I’d have told you “no way!” With no production out of Pagan, Bay, Wright (to a point) Catcher and the bench, this team should be A LOT worse than it has been.

Even when the season started I did not have them making the playoffs. They have too many holes and an aging core of players in Jeter and A-Rod. I would be shocked if they made the playoffs.

Honestly if the Yanks don’t check the Ego’s. They’re gonna look alot like the 2011 Lakers. They’re playing ok now. Not up to their standards but ok. Distractions can kill a team. Especially when you have about 4 or 5 around the same age. Asking for 25 year old money. Unless they remember this is a sport, & supposed to be fun. I see an early vacation on a warm island in October instead a a hot playoff atmosphere in a cold stadium.
