Once Again Tim Tebow Must Prove John Elway Wrong

Tim TebowHall of Fame quarterback and current executive vice president of The
Denver Broncos John Elway was the last person to jump on Broncos
quarterback Tim Tebow’s bandwagon and he is the first to get off. The
Broncos are the victors in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes as they won
out over The San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans. Manning was not
brought in to teach Tebow which means the young quarterback will be
calling a new city home. Elway never warmed up to Tebow being his
starting quarterback. In his support last season of Tebow, Elway
reminded me of Rachel Phelps who was the owner of The Cleveland Indians
in the film “Major League”. Elway appeared to cheer for Tebow’s downfall
as opposed to seeing him succeed.

Tebow never got the credit for what he did for The Broncos last
season from Elway. Elway and Broncos head coach John Fox figured that it
was a throw away to pencil Tebow in as the starting quarterback last
season when the team’s record was 1-4. Elway figured Tebow could show
the world the he wasn’t capable of being a starting quarterback which
could further justify his reasoning for pursuing a new signal caller.
The Broncos finished with a record of 8-8 which took away any chance of
drafting Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck.

Elway went to plan B which was bringing in Manning. Now Tebow will
more than likely be traded and “Tebowmania” will be running wild in a
new city. The team that makes the most sense for Tebow to play for next
season is The Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have been spurned this
off-season and they need to give the fan base some hope. Former Titans
head coach Jeff Fisher chose to become the head coach of The St. Louis
Rams rather than Miami. The Dolphins lost out on Manning and free agent
quarterback Matt Flynn. The Dolphins recently came to terms with former
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard, but that shouldn’t close
the door on the team going after Tebow. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is
desperate to generate interests in South Florida and I can see him
trading for Tebow.

Last season saw The Dolphins honor The Florida Gators football team
for winning The 2008 BCS Championship in which Tebow was the starting
quarterback. The celebration occurred during halftime of Miami’s week 7
game against The Broncos. Tebow rallied Denver to an overtime victory
which was his first of many on the season.

Nobody will ever confuse Tebow to Joe Montana for his accuracy as a
quarterback, but like Montana, Tebow knows how to win. Tebow has the
ability to make the people around him better. Some critics of Tebow will
credit Denver’s defense to the team’s success last season. This was the
same defense that was on the field when The Broncos started the season
at 1-4 when Kyle Orton was the starting quarterback. The same people
doubted Tebow in The Wild Card Playoff Game against The Pittsburgh
Steelers. The Steelers entered the game as defending AFC Champions.
Defensively,The Steelers have been one of the best units of this era led
by defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau. Tebow proceeded to carve
Pittsburgh up for 316 passing yards including an 80-yard touchdown pass
on the first play of overtime to Demaryius Thomas.

I figured that the playoff victory would have solidified Tebow’s
status with Elway. Tebow was eager to build off of 2011 and go forward
with The Broncos. Tebow will continue to become a better quarterback,
but he will have to improve in another city. Elway traded in a good hand
for what he believes will be an even better hand. Tebow has laughed in
the face of adversity for his entire life. People doubted Tebow’s
ability in college and people have done the same since he has been in
The National Football League. In 2012, Tebow will once again be out to
prove Elway wrong.
