Will it Be Lucky Seven for The SEC?

The Southeastern Conference has become the gold standard of college
football. Every year the majority of the top talent that enters The
National Football League comes from The SEC. Before New York Giants
quarterback Eli Manning became a two-time Super Bowl MVP, he was amazing
fans for The Ole Miss Rebels. Prior to winning NFL Rookie of The Year
honors, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton blazed a path for
himself with both The Florida Gators and The Auburn Tigers. In 2010,
Newton was fortunate enough to win a BCS Championship with The Tigers.
Currently The SEC has won the last six BCS Championships. The Gators and
The Alabama Crimson Tide have each won twice while Auburn and The LSU
Tigers have each claimed the title once. To add insult to injury to the
other power conferences such as The Big Ten and The Big 12 was when last
season saw both ‘Bama and LSU square off in New Orleans to determine
The BCS Champion. For those diehard fans of college football, 2012 might
not provide us with a different outcome.

Alabama along with The Georgia Bulldogs and Arkansas Razorbacks will
enter the season as legitimate contenders for The BCS Championship.
Each team is returning a starting quarterback coming off of a phenomenal
season. Georgia’s Aaron Murray enjoyed tremendous success as a sophmore
as he threw 35 touchdowns. Murray best performance of the season was
against Auburn when he completed 14 passes for four touchdowns. Murray
is the unquestioned leader for The Bulldogs and he will look to improve
upon his 59.1 completion percentage from a year ago. Arkansas
quarterback Tyler Wilson had big shoes to fill for the departed Ryan
Mallett and head coach Bobby Petrino’s uptempo offense did not skip a
beat with Wilson. Wilson helped The Razorbacks win 11 games including a
victory in The Cotton Bowl for the first time since 2000. For Crimson
Tide junior quarterback AJ McCarron he is living the good life. McCarron
started off the season battling Phillip Sims for the starting job in
Tuscaloosa. By season’s end, he was helping head coach Alabama head
coach Nick Saban hoist up The BCS Championship Trophy.

Each quarterback will enter the season with tremendous confidence
after their respective performances and looking to lead their teams to
Miami, Florida in January for The BCS Championship. Quarterbacks cannot
do it alone as each school will field impressive teams.

Offensively The Tide will return four starters on the offensive that
opened up gaping holes last season for former Alabama running back
Trent Richardson. The Tide will be a little “green” defensively as four
freshman are projected to start heading into the spring game. Coach
Saban made a living off of his defensive unit last season as Alabama
only gave up eight points per contest.

Defending their title will come with some tough road games. The Tide
will start the season off against The Michigan Wolverines in Arlington,
Texas. They also have road games against LSU, Arkansas, and The
Tennesse Volunteers.

For The Razorbacks, Petrino must replace a trio of talented
receivers. Joe Adams, Greg Childs, and Jarius Wright were apart of
Petrino’s first recruiting class once he arrived at Fayetteville. Wilson
has the ability to put this team on his back. Defensively, linebacker
Alonzo Highsmith will sit out the spring game due to an injury to his
left pectoral muscle. Highsmith was third on the team last season in
tackles. The Razorbacks will host both Alabama and LSU this season as
they look to avenge both of their losses from last season.

Down in Athens, The Dawgs are primed for another strong season. Last
season Georgia head coach Mark Richt was on the hot seat and his cause
wasn’t helped as the team started off the season losing to The Boise
State Broncos and South Carolina Gamecocks respectively. Both games were
played in the state of Georgia which made it worse. The Bulldogs
rebounded to win their next 10 games including victories over the rival
Florida and Tennessee. Georgia faltered in The SEC Championship Game
against LSU and then blew a 16-point lead to The Michigan State Spartans
in The Outback Bowl to finish the season 10-4.

The Bulldogs have a ton of confidence as they are the team to beat
in The SEC East. An experienced offensive line led by junior left tackle
Kenarious Gates will make sure that Murray has a good pass pocket, but
they will also be opening holes for running back Isiah Crowell. Crowell
enjoyed a freshman campaign in which he led the team in rushing yards at
850.

Georgia has a favorable schedule which can help them get to Miami in
January. The Bulldogs will be the first SEC team to visit conference
newcomer The Missouri Tigers in September. The Bulldogs get Tennessee at
home along with their annual trek to Jacksonville, Florida to take on
The Gators. Georgia avoids playing Alabama and Arkansas in the
regular-season but they still could meet one of these teams in Atlanta
for The SEC Championship.

For the other conferences in college football it is almost as if it
is all of them against The SEC. For right now it is just a matter of
seeing which conference will lose to The SEC in The BCS Championship
Game.
