1. Kansas City Chiefs-Luke Joeckel-Offensive Tackle-Texas A&M
There is only one way to go for The Kansas City Chiefs and their new coach Andy Reid which is up. Reid knows that you develop a successful team by building in the trenches.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars-Sharrif Floyd-Defensive Tackle-Florida
The Jacksonville Jaguars finished last season 30th in total defense. Sharrif Floyd can be a difference maker on the interior of the defensive line.
3. Oakland Raiders-Dion Jordan-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker-Oregon
The Raiders only had 27 sacks last season. Raiders head coach Dennis Allen knows that his team must pressure the quarterback; especially in a division that has a quarterback such as Peyton Manning of The Denver Broncos.
4. Philadelphia Eagles-Eric Fisher-Offensive Tackle-Central Michigan
In four seasons with The Eagles, quarterback Michael Vick has been sacked 85 times while failing to start all 16 regular season games. Do you see a trend?
5. Detroit Lions-Lane Johnson-Offensive Tackle-Oklahoma
In 2011, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford passed for 5,038 yards. Last season Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson recorded 1,964 receiving yards. If The Lions are going to remain this pass happy, then Stafford must be protected.
6. Cleveland Browns-Chance Warmack-Guard-Alabama
We are going to see old-school football from The Browns which means there will be a ton of run plays called for running back Trent Richardson. Who better than one of his college teammates to lead the way for him.
7. Arizona Cardinals-Barkevious Mingo-Outside Linebacker-LSU
With the acquisition of veteran quarterback Carson Palmer, first-year Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians can concentrate on another need which is addressing the pass rush.
8. Buffalo Bills-Jarvis Jones-Outside Linebacker-Georgia
Like The Cards, The Bills recently upgraded the quarterback position as they reached out to veteran signal-caller Kevin Kolb which will allow Buffalo to add a defensive play-maker in Jarvis Jones.
9. New York Jets-Cordarrelle Patterson-Wide Receiver-Tennessee
The Jets can go several ways with this pick. New Jets general manager John Idzik is trying to build a team for the future while Jets head coach Rex Ryan is trying to win now. Either way Patterson gives The Jets a play-maker for quarterback Mark Sanchez.
10. Tennessee Titans-Ezekiel Ansah-Defensive End-BYU
As a team The Titans recorded 39 sacks last year, but they did not have one player who recorded double-digits in the category or who puts fear in opposing offenses. Ezekiel Ansah can do both.
11. San Diego Chargers-Dee Milner-Cornerback-Alabama
A few years ago The Chargers had one of the deepest secondaries in The National Football League. Now they have one of the thinnest so it makes sense to take Milner here.
12. Miami Dolphins-Kenny Vaccaro-Free Safety-Texas
Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland has received a ton of attention from his spending in free agency, but an impact player like Vaccaro in the first-round can really set this team up to contend.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Xavier Rhodes-Cornerback-Florida State
One thing for sure is that cornerback Ronde Barber cannot play forever and it is time for The Bucs to add some fresh legs at the cornerback position.
14. Carolina Panthers-Johnathan Cooper-Guard-North Carolina
The Panthers could go in several directions with this pick, but Panthers head coach Ron Rivera loves to pound the football.
15. New Orleans Saints-Tavon Austin-Wide Receiver-West Virginia
One thing that we have seen from The Saints during this era with head coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees is speed at the wide receiver position. The addition of Austin will keep “The Greatest Show on Field Turf” going.
16. St. Louis Rams-Robert Woods-Wide Receiver-USC
The Rams will have their eyes set on Tavon Austin, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t take a chance on Woods here.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers-Star Lotulelei-Defensive Tackle-Utah
Age has finally caught up to nose tackle Casey Hampton, but The Steelers don’t skip a beat with a player with top 10 talent in Lotulelei.
18. Dallas Cowboys-D.J. Fluker-Offensive Tackle-Alabama
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones loves big, physical offensive lineman. Fluker would be ideal at right tackle, but he could fill an immediate need at either guard position.
19. New York Giants-Tyler Eifert-Tight End-Notre Dame
The Giants signed tight end Brandon Myers, but that doesn’t mean that Giants general manager Jerry Reese would shy away from taking a tight end here; especially one in the mode of Eifert that can catch the football in traffic.
20. Chicago Bears-Manti Te’o-Middle Linebacker-Notre Dame
Like I previously said I can see The Bears trading this pick, but they do need a middle linebacker to fill the void of the departed Brian Urlacher.
21. Cincinnati Bengals-Eddie Lacy-Running Back-Alabama
The Bengals have a running back in BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but they still need a game changer. Eddie Lacy had a great pro day which should catapult him into the first round.
22. St. Louis Rams-Alec Ogletree-Outside Linebacker-Georgia
The Rams could trade back with this pick, but Rams head coach Jeff Fisher knows that he needs linebackers to contain elusive quarterbacks in The NFC West such as Colin Kaepernick of The San Francisco 49ers and Russell Wilson of The Seattle Seahawks.
23. Minnesota Vikings-Desmond Trufant-Cornerback-Washington
With two first-round picks The Vikings have a chance to build upon last year’s surprising trip to the playoffs.
24. Indianapolis Colts-Damontre Moore-Outside Linebacker/Defensive End-Texas A&M
When Chuck Pagano became the head coach in Indy last season, he switched the defense from 4-3 to 3-4. Pagano now needs a natural 3-4 edge rusher and Moore can fill that void.
25. Minnesota Vikings-Kevin Minter-Middle Linebacker-LSU
If The Bears trade their pick or pass on Te’o, expect The Vikings to make a run on him. Other than that Minter wouldn’t be a bad selection here.
26. Green Bay Packers-Keenan Allen-Wide Receiver-California
Donald Driver retired and Greg Jennings signed with The Vikings, but The Packers don’t skip a beat at wide receiver.
27. Houston Texans-DeAndre Hopkins-Wide Receiver-Clemson
The one thing that The Texans have been lacking is a legitimate second option at wide receiver behind Andre Johnson. If The Texans are going to take the next step in the playoffs, they must upgrade the wide recei
ver position.
ver position.
28. Denver Broncos-Bjoern Werner-Defensive End-Florida State
Werner has top 15 talent, but a slip has him falling to The Broncos who must fill the void for the surprising departure of defensive end Elvis Dumervil.
29. New England Patriots-Datone Jones-Defensive End-UCLA
If Patriots head coach Bill Belichick does not trade this pick, he will get a versatile player in Jones who can play multiple postions on the defensive line.
30. Atlanta Falcons-Zach Ertz-Tight End-Stanford
Just because The Falcons were able to lure tight end Tony Gonzalez back for another season doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t look ahead for his replacement.
31. San Francisco 49ers-Sheldon Richardson-Defensive Tackle-Missouri
The 49ers saw numerous depatures to their defensive line due to free agency, but they don’t skip a beat by drafting a player with top 20 talent.
32. Baltimore Ravens-Jamar Taylor-Cornerback-Boise State
There a several directions that Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome can go. The holes in the defensive front seven were addressed in free agency so now it is time to take care of the secondary.
