http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/153/4668/full/780_-sun_belt_conference-primary-.gifThe Sun Belt Conference opened for business in 2001. In the conference re-alignment shuffle, the Sun Belt has been a revolving door as they have been raided by Conference USA who has been raided by the Big East (now the American Athletic Conference). The Sun Belt won’t see any of their teams contend for a national championship in 2014, but that doesn’t mean that it will not be home to some exciting football.

This season the Sun Belt Championship will come down to the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns and the Troy Trojans. Since 2006, Louisiana-Lafayette and Troy have combined to win the Sun Belt Conference Title four times.

The Ragin’ Cajuns have a dynamic running game that features senior running back Alonzo Harris and sophomore Elijah McGuire who will punish defenses in the Sun Belt. For Troy head football coach Larry Blakeney he is hopeful that junior running back Brandon Burks will be able to take that next step in his game and flirt with being the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year.

Troy and Louisiana-Lafayette meet on November 29 in a game that more than likely will decide the Sun Belt Conference Champion for 2014.

I appreciate your love for the Arkansas State Red Wolves, but there are too many changes that they have to deal with for the upcoming season.
