The National Hockey League’s Lockout was expected to provide some teams
with a bit of rust, but that doesn’t apply to The Chicago Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks were one of ten teams last year to total over 100 points
in the regular season and they have come out of the gates like gang
busters this year as well. The Blackhawks 25 points through 14 games
lead The NHL in this shortened 48-game season. The Blackhawks have yet
to be defeated in regulation and they once again showed their
superiority by defeating The San Jose Sharks 4-1 last night at The
United Center in Chicago.

For Blackhawks head coach Joel
Quenneville, his team has the third highest goals per game average
(3.36) as they only trail The Anaheim Ducks and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Blackahawks right winger Patrick Kane is proving himself as a candidate
for the coveted Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s MVP. Entering play
today Kane is tied for seventh in assists (12), fifth in goals (9), and
he is second in points (21). In The Blackhawks last eight games Kane has
produced at least one point in each contest. Blackhawks center and
captain Jonathan Toews was the 2010 Conn Smythe Trophy winner as he led
The Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup Title since 1961 and he is
once again the glue to this team. Toews is currently second on the team
to Kane in all of the major scoring categories.

The Blackhawks
are in the midst of a home stand that can go a long way in setting the
tone for them as far as the playoffs go. After losing 3-2 in a shootout
to The Ducks last Tuesday, The Blackhawks cruised by The Sharks.
Tomorrow on NBC, Chicago will play host to the defending Stanley Cup
Champions The Los Angeles Kings who are currently on the outside of the
playoff picture in The Western Conference. Tuesday The Blackhawks
welcome The Vancouver Canucks and their tough goalie Roberto Luongo to
town in what could be a sneak peek at the playoffs. After that The
Sharks return to The Windy City before The Blackhawks take on a pair of
struggling teams in The Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers before
hitting the road to take on The St. Louis Blues.

It was nearly
50 years before The Blackhakws were able to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup
once again, but the combination of Kane and Toews are playing like they
are ready to hoist it up once again.
